I got a chance to see “Garden State” last night. I had heard of the independent film buzz surrounding the film and had really wanted to try and catch it. I'm a big fan of movie soundtracks and I actually picked up a copy of the soundtrack earlier this week. The soundtrack is excellent. It actually made me want to see the film even more.

The film is directed, written and starring Zach Braff of TV's the Scrubs fame. It also includes the excellent Natalie Portman. The basic story behind the film is Braff's character is a successful actor in LA, but not successful enough to not have to work as a waiter part-time. He has to return home to New Jersey after his mother dies for her funeral. His trip back home is what the movie covers and pretty deals with him having to realize that he needs to figure out his life. It's well done and I highly recommend it.

Zach is supporting the movie launch with an interesting blog, which is worth reading. It's funny and nice to see him use the power of the web to connect with people. The NY Daily News had a pretty good article on the film and it's blog.
