The Sundance Channel featured the outstanding DIG! music documentary in November. I finally got a chance to watch the movie and it was amazing. It's distribution is weird (it's going to be in select movie theatres and it was shown on the Sundance Channel), but I'm sure it will make it out on DVD one day soon and I highly recommend. Filmed over the course of 7 years, the movie is about the rise and development of two bands: The Brian Jonestown Massacre (BJM) and The Dandy Warhols (DW). They started out as friends, but quickly and bizarrely turned into rivals. They are both extremely talented bands (in fact, many, including the DW, would argue BJM was more talented, but they both rocked). BJM's crazy lead singer (Anton Newcombe) limited the band's success. I'm a DW fan, so it was cool to get an idea of how they got started and handled success. The movie deals with difference personalities, creativity and addiction. If you are into music, this is a must see flix. Highly recommended and certainly one of the best movies I've seen this year.
