Da Vinci Code (Special Illustrated Edition) by Dan Brown

I know I'm coming a little late to the Dan Brown Da Vinci Code bandwagon, but I finally picked it up the other day and read it. I had previous read his Digital Fortress book and even though I enjoyed it, I was discouraged by the person who lent to me in reading Brown's other books. Last fall they released a special edition of the Da Vinci Code which shows pictures of the famous buildings and art work while they are discussed throughout the book. Apparently people were going online while reading the book and looking for the referenced buildings and art work to get a better understanding. The illustrated book negated the need to do so. My friend Paul told me about the new edition and recommended I check it out. I started reading it on Thursday evening and I was done by Friday afternoon. Although the drama of the book obviously isn't true, the theories and discussions in the book are. It's a pretty fascinating discussion of the history of the Church and religion put into a readable package. I've always said and believed religion plays an important role in many peoples' lives and I don't have a problem with that, but religion is based on a lot of lies, which is pretty messed up. I know I'm not the first to recommend doing so, but this book is a must read. It's very good stuff.
