U2 Tickets
I was going to mention this in my post yesterday about concerts, but I've grown wary about talking about things before they happen. I get myself in trouble or curse myself when I do that.
Tickets went on sale today for a bunch of U2 concerts at Madison Square Garden in October. I'm not a huge U2 fan, but I like them and everyone I've ever spoken to who's gone to a show says it's an awesome experience. I figure it's a good thing to do before I die and/or they break up (which ever comes first).
It's been a while since I've purchased tickets from Ticketmaster right when the concert goes on sale. Today they put on sale Friday, Saturday and Monday shows. I wanted to go to Friday (October 8), but would have also taken Monday (October 11 - Columbus Day; there could be a soccer game on Saturday night, so I always try to keep that day open). I had the Friday and Monday page all loaded up and ready to go. At 9am, I refreshed the Friday page and was able to pick 2 tickets. While I sat through Ticketmaster's new “wait in line” system, I decided to refresh the Monday page and try and get tickets for that day too. I had a short 2 minute “wait in line” for the Friday tickets, but the second I tried to go forward looking for Monday tickets, I got kicked off both lines! They detected I had two browsers open! Those tricky/smart bastards! I closed the Monday one and tried again with the Friday one. The 2 minute “wait in line” screen was much longer now. After about a 20-25 minute wait (where the times on the screen ranged from 15 minutes to 3 minutes back up to 10 minutes, etc), I was awarded with 2 tickets. I didn't notice until I got the e-mail that the tickets were for the Monday show, but that's still OK. They are decent seats and I just want to see them, so I'm cool with that.
I still kinda wanted to go to the Friday show tho and I'm all obsessive when it comes to stuff like this, so I figured I'd try and get some more tickets. After a little bit of a wait, I was told Friday was sold out, but they added a Tuesday show. Mostly because I'm obsessive and I know these are popular tickets, I loaded up the Tuesday show and after about 5 minutes I snagged 4 tickets to Tuesday.
So I have 6 tickets to U2. Even tho it's in October, I already have people lined up ready to go the show. (Oh and for the record, I won't be charging my friends more than face value.) They are no Radiohead, but I'm looking forward to it.
